Google reviews in PrestaShop — make them easy to read

Business reviews help customers understand other people’s experiences. A useful widget identifies the source and supports the offer. Before enabling it, decide what information to show and where the customer will need it.

1. Identify the correct business profile

Open the business in Google Maps and check its name, address and reviews link. If there are several locations, decide which profile belongs on the store. A similar business name is not enough to identify the right place.

Business profile reviews describe a company or location. Do not present them as reviews of a particular product unless they actually concern it. A label such as “Reviews of our business on Google” makes the context clear.

2. Choose an integration method

WO Google Reviews offers Google Places API integration and a manual mode. Check the current module requirements before configuring it. The API option needs correct place identification and Google Cloud access configuration. Review billing and quotas directly in your Google project.

API responses may not include every review visible on the business profile. Do not promise a complete history or a fixed refresh interval without verifying the installed integration. Manual mode requires someone to keep the content and labels current.

3. Preserve context and attribution

Google defines presentation requirements for Places content, including source and author attribution. Use the required attribution and check the current policies for your API. Do not remove source information simply to make the widget appear neutral.

For a manually prepared section, use real review text, ratings and authors. If showing selected examples, do not imply they represent the complete set. A link to the original profile helps customers see the wider context.

4. Choose placement deliberately

A compact homepage section can support your company introduction. On product pages, keep the price, combinations, delivery and purchase button easy to find. Avoid repeating a large review block several times on the same screen.

Check very long reviews. One long card can stretch the entire section. Author, rating and source link should remain readable without excessive scrolling.

5. Test mobile and missing data

Use a narrow screen. The widget should not cover the cart, menu or consent banner. Check long author names, missing portraits and accented characters. Buttons should remain easy to tap.

Also check what happens when data cannot be retrieved. A third-party failure should not fill the main page area with a technical error. Compare page loading before and after activation and review the setup with whoever manages your store privacy and consent configuration.

6. Keep a short maintenance checklist

Recheck the widget after theme changes, module updates or API access changes. A working setup today does not guarantee the same data will always be returned.

  • The correct business and review source are shown.
  • Company reviews are not presented as product ratings.
  • The widget works on mobile without obstructing purchases.
  • Someone owns content updates and API access checks.
  • The original business profile link works.
